Job summary

Aplin is seeking an experienced Operations Manager for Mortgage & Lending in Calgary to lead a seasoned team and drive operational excellence.

Reporting to the COO, you will champion process improvements, digital adoption, and compliant service delivery while building a culture of trust, accountability, and collaboration across the organization.

You will mentor leaders, oversee performance, and partner with senior teams to support strategic growth in the mortgage and lending space.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of people leadership in operations or financial services.
• Experience leading teams through change, process improvements, or digital transformation.

Our client, a well-established and growing organization in the mortgage and financial services industry, is seeking an experienced Operations Manager, Mortgage & Lending, to lead a knowledgeable team.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this role is ideal for a strong people leader with experience driving change, developing teams, and improving operational efficiency.

While mortgage or financial services experience is an asset, the priority is finding an exceptional leader who can build trust and empower employees.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop an experienced team of mortgage administration professionals.
• Oversee daily operations, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, compliance, and exceptional service delivery.
• Build a culture of trust, accountability, collaboration, and independent decision-making.
• Guide employees through digital transformation, automation, and operational changes.
• Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, improve processes, and increase efficiency.
• Collaborate with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to support business growth.
• Manage departmental priorities, workload, performance, and employee development.
• Support the successful implementation and adoption of new technologies and processes.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 3 years of people leadership experience, ideally within operations, financial services, or a related environment.

• Strong emotional intelligence with the ability to balance empathy, accountability, and difficult conversations.
• Demonstrated success building high-performing teams, developing employees, and fostering trust.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with software implementations, automation, or workflow improvements is a strong asset.
• Mortgage administration, banking, or lending experience is preferred but not required.
• Strong technical aptitude and proficiency with Microsoft Office and SharePoint.
