Job description

Lyons Heritage Masonry

Operations Manager

Location: Toronto, ON -- field-based position overseeing projects throughout the Greater Toronto Area and surrounding communities.

One Standard. Every Stage.

Lyons Heritage Masonry combines heritage craft with modern project execution. Our work spans assessment, restoration, conservation, reimagination, installation, and custom masonry, with the goal of creating one consistent standard from the first conversation through final completion. The company's internal values are Authenticity, Accountability, Love for the Work, and Continued Service, and those standards shape how we manage people, projects, clients, and problems.

Why Lyons Heritage Masonry?

Lyons is working toward becoming a fully integrated heritage masonry partner, with one standard carried across every stage of the work. That requires operations to be as considered as the masonry itself. In this role, you will have the opportunity to build stronger systems, support skilled crews, create a better client experience, and help ensure that the finished work reflects both the architectural intent and the company's standard of craft.

The Operations Manager is responsible for turning sold work into well-run projects.

You will oversee scheduling, crew coordination, job performance, client communication, quality control, documentation, and operational systems across multiple active projects.

Lyons is a solution-focused company. Problems will occur in construction; the expectation is that they are identified early, owned, and resolved rather than passed to somebody else. This position is suited to someone who can bring structure and accountability to a growing company while respecting the craftsmanship and architectural intent behind the work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of active masonry projects.
  • Maintain a rolling schedule of crews, projects, materials, equipment, and upcoming work.
  • Coordinate crews and resources to reduce delays and project conflicts.
  • Track estimated versus actual labor hours and production.
  • Track revenue, gross margin, callbacks, deficiencies, and other operational KPIs.
  • Maintain accurate project information in JobTread.
  • Conduct or coordinate project kickoff and pre-job site walks.
  • Identify access, sequencing, material, safety, and coordination concerns before work begins.
  • Serve as an operational point of contact for field crews, clients, builders, architects, and other trades.
  • Maintain clear and proactive client communication.
  • Oversee quality inspections and deficiency correction.
  • Investigate recurring issues and solve root causes rather than repeatedly correcting symptoms.
  • Coordinate job closeout, punch lists, documentation, and client sign-off.
  • Support field hiring, onboarding, performance management, and employee development.
  • Coordinate required employee training and certifications.
  • Build and document SOPs and operational procedures.
  • Provide structured weekly operational reporting to company leadership.
  • Continuously look for ways to improve scheduling, field efficiency, communication, and project delivery.
Qualifications

  • Masonry, heritage restoration, general contracting, or related trades experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing multiple simultaneous construction projects.
  • Experience managing field crews and subcontractors.
  • Strong knowledge of scheduling, job costing, labor performance, and project profitability.
  • Comfortable working with measurable KPIs.
  • Experience using construction project-management software.
  • JobTread experience is an asset.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong client-facing communication.
  • Comfortable holding people accountable and addressing difficult issues.
  • Valid G-Class driver's licence.
  • Reliable vehicle for regular project visits.
  • Working at Heights and WHMIS certification, or willingness to complete them.
Pay and Benefits
  • Full-time, permanent position
  • Pay: CA$95,000-$120,000 depending on experience
  • Significant autonomy over field operations and company systems.
  • Opportunity to directly influence operational processes as the company grows.
  • Lyons Heritage Masonry does not currently offer a traditional employee benefits package.
  • Schedule: Primarily Monday through Friday. This position requires regular travel to project sites and occasional flexibility based on project and operational requirements.
