Job summary

Lillooet Learning Communities Society is seeking an Operations Director to lead internal operations, HR, IT and governance, enabling growth and equity-aligned practices within St'át'imc communities.

The role oversees staff across programs, policy development and daily operations, reporting to the Executive Director. Flexibility and strong leadership are essential in this community-driven organization.

Qualifications

  • Management experience, including direct supervision of staff and responsibility for their development.
  • Project management experience with planning, execution and delivery across programs.
  • Executive-level experience working with senior leadership or a board of directors.
  • Knowledge of human resources practice, including hiring, performance management and BC employment standards.
  • Experience developing or improving policies, procedures and internal systems.
  • Knowledge of St'át'imc territory, communities and protocols.
  • Experience in a non-profit, First Nation government or community organization is an asset.
  • Experience with equity work, governance review, or funder reporting is an asset.
  • Education in management, human resources, business administration or a related field, or a combination of relevant education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Be the first point of contact for staff questions, concerns or issues.
  • Supervise and mentor staff across programs and check in on priorities.
  • Lead fair and open hiring, from posting to onboarding.
  • Run staff reviews and organize training opportunities.
  • Oversee payroll, benefits, time off and WorkSafeBC with the bookkeeper.
  • Oversee contractors and the work they do.
  • Write and update policies, procedures, including health, safety and privacy.
  • Ensure policies reflect St'át'imc values and are fair.
  • Follow employment law and funder requirements.
  • Document processes to preserve organizational knowledge.
  • Prepare operational information for board meetings and committees.
  • Identify problems early and propose fixes.
  • Turn strategy and funding commitments into actionable work plans.
  • Track deadlines and responsibilities across programs and funders.
  • Monitor progress and address delays early.
  • Collect program data for reporting to funders.
  • Lead staff meetings and management check-ins.
  • Look after software, subscriptions, equipment and assets.
  • Lead a partnership approach with the Executive Director to guide organization operations.
  • Contribute to equity and reconciliation planning and implementation.
  • Help build an operations plan aligned with the strategic plan.
  • Document program area workflows to maintain consistency.
