About The School Of Life Science & Business
The School of Life Science & Business provides dynamic high-tech, hands-on learning opportunities in support of animal health, business and horticulture. The School is also home to the National Meat Training Centre and the Olds College Botanic Gardens. A variety of certificates, diplomas and applied degrees are granted from the School of Life Science & Business. Fields of study offered within the School of Life Science & Business are: Animal Health, Business, Equine, Horticulture, and the National Meat Training Centre.
The Opportunity - Operations Coordinator, School of Life Science & Business (full-time, temporary)

The Operations Coordinator (AUPE Business Analyst) works closely with all members of the school team and campus community to coordinate, lead and ensure effective program planning, teaching and learning objectives in alignment with the school’s vision and mission statements. This position plays a crucial role in overseeing the coordination, assessment, monitoring and support for the efficient organization, implementation, and achievement of program goals related to school program delivery.
In this role, the incumbent will lead program development projects, collaborating closely with faculty members, subject matter experts, Office of the Registrar and support personnel. Together, this position will ensure the creation of quality programs and courses that align with the school’s educational concepts and practices. This includes program scheduling and readiness for delivery and support to instructors. Strategic input will be crucial in planning the structure and organization of program content. This position ensures that programs and operations are effective and efficient in order to deliver excellent service to students, staff, faculty, internal partners, and external partners.
This position requires the incumbent to be on location at the Olds College campus. This is a term position for one year with the possibility of extension.
Key Job Functions
Program Planning and Logistics & Student Integration
- Play a lead role in supporting the annual delivery of school programming at Olds College by overseeing and managing planning, scheduling and organization for delivery and ensuring operational readiness for the success of all stakeholders.
- Coordinate academic program support and planning for school to advance Olds College’s academic goals and meet the needs of students.
- Create, compose, and maintain program material, including programming plans, and schedule revisions.
- Work with the Office of the Registrar Management Team and key stakeholders to establish protocols that support the Academic Scheduling Policy and Procedures.
- Engage with key stakeholders on the regular review of practices to ensure effectiveness and consistency among schools.
- Assemble and analyze information to provide current and year end data related to school programming that will be used to inform future decisions of Olds College.
- Ensure robust support for the logistics and operations of implementing program workloads and schedules.
- Plan, organize and support school-level, campus events.
- Act as a System Administrator for the Room Booking System and Academic Section Scheduling system, and take a lead role related to usage and data reporting within the school.
- Collaborate with key campus stakeholders to respond to and coordinate space utilization requests.
- In collaboration with Marketing and Communications convey programming concepts and information to the wider College community to ensure effective communication and understanding of programming principles within the academic setting.
- Implement the internal communication strategy for the school.
Cross-Campus Collaboration
- Project manage school’s responsibilities associated with infrastructure renewal and development.
- Support the identification of infrastructure needs within the school.
- Provide project coordination related to facilities and health & safety.
- Act as the primary contact with campus facilities for day-to-day needs as well as infrastructure projects.
- Foster close relationships with the Olds College Smart Farm Integration Initiative team, and Ecosystem partners to ensure mutually beneficial opportunities, and to enhance the student experience for the school.
General
- Participate as a key member of the school administrative team.
- Participate in program meetings and action operational requests and decisions.
Education/Experience/Skills/Knowledge Required
- Post Secondary credential in a relevant discipline (i.e. Business Administration)
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in project management, program planning and scheduling, change management, or other related experience. A combination of education and experience will be considered
- Understand and be knowledgeable in strategic program planning, structuring, scheduling and readiness for delivery, support to instructors, and students
- Experience working in a post-secondary environment is preferred
- Experience with purchase order requests and curricular health software experience is preferred
- Evidence of strong oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead change
- Evidence of high quality client and student service skills
- Evidence of the ability to work both collaboratively with a team as well as independently
