Operations Analyst – Loan Servicing (Brookfield Asset Management - Credit )

Position Summary:

The Loan Servicing Operations Analyst is responsible for the Statutory and GAAP accounting and reporting for the Mortgage and Real Estate portfolios of our Credit and Insurance clients. The position is key to successfully facilitating a SOC 1 controlled environment and will be a key contributor of our growing credit operations team and will report to our Manager . The role will be based in Brookfield’s [ Toronto ] offices at Brookfield Place .

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for onboarding new and processing ongoing life cycle activity related to Mortgage Loans.

  • Reconciles the mortgage suspense account.

  • Performs and analyzes monthly reconciliation of principal to correspondents.

  • Completes and evaluates quarterly correspondent certification review and reconciliations.

  • Ensure timely recording of data to facilitate regulatory requirements.

  • Evaluates and updates control documentation for the various mortgage loan processes.

  • Creates and evaluates reports for distribution to Senior Management, Underwriters, Investment department and rating agencies.

  • Implement and communicate the strategic direction of Loan Servicing Operations for American Equity.

  • Works collaboratively with IT to develop, automate and maintain reports.

  • Works with outside parties to facilitate issue resolution.

  • Performs other related work as required .

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field of study from leading institution

  • 3 + years relevant work experience – commercial mortgage accounting, reporting and p ortfolio analysis or related experience.

  • Master in Finance or Accounting , CPA, MBA and/or CFA is a plus

  • Knowledge of the investment industry, including financial data management and reporting as well as applicable laws, rules and regulations.

  • Excellent judgement and analytical skills combined with attention to detail and thoroughness

  • Excellent organizational skills to effectively manage priorities and meet deadlines while meeting timelines within a fast-paced work environment

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present clearly and offer practical advice

  • Self-motivated and proactive with the ability to operate independently

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents from regulatory agencies, and other members of the business community.

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply to practical situations.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Proficient with Aladdin, Precision LM, MS Access, Microsoft Excel and Word.

  • Ability to identify technological and other opportunities that will improve processing efficiencies and work product.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop collaborative relationships at all levels in the organization and customers, and other outside third parties, including auditors, correspondents, underwriting & closing staff, and third-party reinsurance staff

  • Team-oriented with a commitment to shared success

  • High degree of professional ethics and integrity
