Your Opportunity:
The successful candidate will primarily work in the Operating Room (OR), with additional responsibilities in Acute Care, the Emergency Department (ER), and Obstetrics as required. Located in the "Heart of Alberta," Stettler is situated approximately 179 km southeast of Edmonton and 101 km east of Red Deer. As a regional hub, it serves a trading area of over 11,000 residents. The town offers a wide range of amenities, including an elementary/junior high school, a composite high school, a public library, twin arenas, an aquatic centre, a performing arts theatre, and several golf courses. Buffalo Lake, a popular recreational destination, is also nearby. Stettler Hospital features a 26-bed Medical/Surgical Inpatient Unit, which includes one palliative care suite, two labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum (LDRP) suites, and two monitored close observation beds. The facility also houses an eight-bed Emergency Department and supports a comprehensive Surgical and Endoscopy Program. Successful candidates will be expected to provide care across multiple departments, including Acute Care, Emergency, Operating Room, and Obstetrics.
Description:
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level, and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Required Qualifications: Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications: Minimum of one-year experience in an OR Program. Operating Room Technician (ORT) designation or qualifications to obtain ORT designation with CLPNA. Completed Connect Care Training in OR Nurse, Endo Nurse, PACU Nurse, and Day Surgery.
Preferred Qualifications: Rural Nursing experience. Current certification in CAM A, CAM B, LEAD II, CTAS, and NRP. Completed / Current Connect Care training in Rural Nurse, Labour and Delivery, Post Partum, and Therapy Plan as applicable to scope. Rural Emergency and Obstetrical experience. Current required organizational learning.
