Job summary

Yee Hong is opening the Ng Siu Chan Centre and is seeking a passionate Cook II to help shape the culture, resident experience, and care environment from day one. You will prepare, portion and serve high-quality meals for residents, following regulations and menu requirements.

Ideal candidates have a Chef Training diploma, 3+ years of institutional cooking, and strong English communication. Chinese knowledge is an asset; safety and sanitation standards are essential.

Qualifications

• Completion of Chef Training diploma or diploma/certificate in Culinary Management or equivalent.
• Current Food Handler Safety Certificate.
• Minimum 3 years proven institutional cooking experience.
• Familiarity with Asian cuisine; use of a large wok is an asset.
• Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Screen.
• Ability to communicate in English.
• Knowledge of Chinese is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and cooks food and snacks according to pre-determined requirements, palatability and menu/recipe, ensuring an appetizing appearance.
• Pre-prepares menu items according to menu (regular and vegetarian).
• Inspects and tastes food for quality.
• Accurately portions and serves food to residents.
• Performs food preparation.
• Complies with sanitary regulations in the food preparation process.
• Maintains and cleans equipment.
• Maintains production areas, storage rooms and refrigeration areas in a clean and organized condition.
• Responsible for taking temperature logs of refrigerator/freezer and food temperatures.
• Monitors food stock and reports to management for replenishment.
• Responsible for stock rotation.
• Assists in receiving deliveries and ensuring accuracy of orders.
• Follows safety protocols to comply with standards from Ministry, public health and other regulatory bodies.
• Keeps up-to-date with developments and best practices in the field.
• Other duties as assigned.
