Job summary

AgeCare is seeking a Cook for our Long-Term Care residence to prepare and serve meals on schedule while keeping the kitchen and dining areas clean and safe. You will also address resident or family concerns within your authority and supervise Food Services staff to ensure high-quality service.

The position requires prior cook experience, a Safe Food Handling Certificate, and a high school diploma; a diploma in quality food preparation is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Cook, preferably with supervisory responsibilities.
• Current provincial Safe Food Handling Certificate.
• High school diploma or equivalent; diploma in quality food preparation preferred.

The Opportunity:

The Cook of the Long-Term Care residence is responsible for ensuring that proper meals are prepared and served on time and that work areas are maintained in a safe and sanitary condition.

What Is In It For You:

• Checks special diet orders for new admissions to ensure they are correct (as required).
• Responds to resident or family member concerns and ensures appropriate action is taken within decision‑making authority and/or brings to the attention of the Food Services Manager/Supervisor.
• Directs Food Services Workers in the performance of their duties and assumes responsibility for the operation of the Food Services Department (as required).

What You Will Need

• Prior experience as a Cook preferably in a supervisory capacity.
• Current provincial Safe Food Handling Certificate.
• A minimum of public-school education is required. High school education is preferred.
• Must have a diploma/certificate or equivalent in quality food preparation and production.

Salary:

$23.58 per hour Salary placement based on qualifications and experience.
