Job summary

Aramark in Halifax area is hiring a bakery associate to bake and prepare a variety of foods according to production guidelines and recipes. You’ll set up stations, measure ingredients, operate ovens and mixers, and ensure food safety throughout service.

You’ll work with a team, maintain customer service standards, and follow safety policies. Previous baking experience is preferred; WHMIS/Food Safe certification is a plus, and the role may require standing for long periods.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years baking experience preferably in institutional industries such as hospitals, higher education, or correctional facilities
• Experience with large quantity batch-baking an asset
• Valid WHMIS and Food Safe (Basic or Advanced), First Aid Certification is an asset
• Knowledge of and commitment to upholding high standards of food safety and hygiene
• Additional certification may be required by work location
• Ability to work effectively and efficiently supervised and unsupervised
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a genuine desire to provide outstanding customer service
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues to ensure smooth operations

Responsibilities

• Bakes and prepares a variety of food according to production guidelines and standardized recipes
• Sets up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment
• Prepares ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, etc.
• Operates equipment such as ovens, stoves, mixers, etc.
• Safely uses a variety of utensils including knives
• Properly stores food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures
• Cleans and sanitizes work areas, equipment, and utensils
• Maintains excellent customer service and positive demeanor towards guests, customers, clients, co-workers, etc.
• Adheres to Aramark safety policies and procedures including proper food safety and sanitation
• Ensures security of company assets

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

The pay range for this position is $20.06 - $20.06.
