Job summary

Discovery Silver operates in Timmins, Ontario, overseeing underground and open pit mining with a strong focus on safety and production. This role leads a 27+ person crew, coordinating safety programs, daily pre-starts, and liaison with support departments to meet budgeted targets.

Applicants should have open pit experience, a Grade 12 diploma, and at least one year in a supervisory role, preferably in a union environment.

Qualifications

• Open pit mining experience required.
• At least 1 year in a supervisory role; union environment preferred.
• Strong safety leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Zero Harm focus for all employees, contractors, and visitors to the site.
• Prepare the Surface Safety Card daily and utilize Fatality Risk Management.
• Conduct daily Pre-Starts and monthly safety meetings reviewing incidents and topics.
• Promote and follow IRS and Safety programs.
• High visibility in the workplace with face-to-face risk assessments and concerns.
• Address findings from inspections, audits, and employee concerns.
• Conduct audits to ensure safe pit conditions and equipment pre-inspections.
• Ensure communication and visibility in pit areas and proper task assignments.
