Job summary

Laidlaw Carriers in Ontario, Copetown, is seeking an experienced truck driver for heavy haul duties with cross-border routes. Responsibilities include pre-trip inspections, loading/unloading bulk and dump products, tarping, and ensuring safe equipment operation.

You will require an AZ license, a clean CVOR and Driver Abstract, and either heavy haul experience or 3 years of over-the-road experience. The role involves Monday to Friday shifts, with full benefits provided.

Qualifications

• Must have AZ license and a clean CVOR and Driver Abstract.
• Heavy haul experience preferred or 3 years over-the-road experience.
• Must be able to cross Canada–US borders.
• Physical requirements include lifting 20–25 kg and handling trailer operations.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-trip inspections, including king pin and fifth wheel checks.
• Load and unload bulk/dump products.
• Tarpaulin trailers and manage tarp mechanisms.
• Clean and inspect trailers and tractors; report defects.
• Operate and drive trucks on cross-border routes and varying facilities.
• Keep logs, complete trip envelopes, and maintain paperwork.

Employment Requirements:

• Must be physically fit to climb 12’ in & out of dump trailers, approximately but not
• limiting to 2-4 times daily
• Must be able to lift 20 to 25 kg’s of material in & out of trailers, approximately but not limiting to 2-4 times daily
• Must be able to cross various borders between Canada and the U.S
• Heavy haul experience preferred
• Or 3 years over the road experience Licenses / Certificates: AZ license
• Qualifications / Skills: Good CVOR and good Drivers Abstract
• Staying in Truck Monday to Friday

Responsibilities

• Pre-trip inspections; Involve walking, bending, lifting and releasing the king pin from the fifth wheel. [Approximately 50 pounds pulling force and winding dolly legs up or down]
• Loading and off loading Bulk / Dump products
• Tarping (Opening and closing the trailer tarp on dump trailers, approximately 15 pounds force twisting the tarp crank to open and up to 60 pounds pulling to close)
• Cleaning Trailers out (Sweeping the trailer after unloading – climbing, bending and walking.)
• Cleaning Trailers with Frozen product in side
• Removal of cross bows along the top of trailer (Requires hammer to remove all 10 cross bows)
• Climbing in and out of the tractor (approximately but not limiting to 2-4 times daily)
• Driving (Driving can vary between 1 to 4 hours sitting and shifting the transmission)
• Walking on uneven ground at different facilities while loading and off loading
• Dealing with Malfunctioning equipment (Trailer doors could get stuck, Trailer bows not easily coming out, issues with trapping system that may need extra force)
• Knowledge of axle weights
• Safe operation of equipment
• All paperwork (logbook, customs, trip envelopes)
• Writing up equipment with defects
• Fueling on a daily basis
• Keeping Truck clean inside
• Use of electronic Logging device

Equipment / Tools Used:

• Various tools for loading, unloading and cleaning of unit
