Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking an experienced AZ-licensed driver for long-haul routes from Ontario to the US. You will train under a skilled driver coach, perform daily inspections, and log hours per DOT & MTO regulations.

Expect 10–14 hour days with 600–1100 km per shift, home nightly, and paid industry-specific training in Ayr, ON. Competitive pay with lane pay and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Must have valid AZ license and 3+ years AZ driving experience.
• Waste hauling experience preferred; heavy hauling asset.
• Must be able to cross US border in a CMV daily; maintain clean abstracts and DMV checks.
• Must pass DOT drug testing and provide CVOR/CVR/Criminal checks as required.
• Knowledge of truck driving rules and regulations; high personal integrity.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily runs to Michigan and transport solid waste from transfer stations to landfills.
• Inspect vehicles daily for mechanical and safety issues to ensure safe operation.
• Report defects, accidents, violations, damage, and complete daily paperwork.
• Log driving/breaks and kilometers per DOT & MTO regulations; retain receipts.
• Comply with safe operation, hours of service, and border/customs regulations.
• Home nightly with 10–14 hour shifts and 600–1100 km daily; maintain logs and records.

• One on one training with a skilled driver coach
• Two-weeks of paid, industry specific training in Ayr, ON

Key Responsibilities

• Daily runs to Michigan
• Transport solid waste from the transfer stations to various Landfills
• Inspect vehicles daily for mechanical items and safety issues to ensure safe operation and public safety
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, equipment damage and property damage when applicable
• Document and log driving/break periods in Kilometers on Daily Trip Report and E-logs in accordance with DOT & MTO Regulations
• Retain copies of fuel, and border toll receipts, as well as pick-up and delivery tickets to complete daily paperwork
• Comply with applicable legislation including safe operation of vehicles, carriage of goods, Hours of Service, occupational health and safety, customs and immigration, weights and dimensions
• Approximately 600Km-1100km a day, 10-14 hour runs
• Home nightly

Knowledge, Skills And Competencies

• Waste Hauling experience will be viewed with priority
• Heavy hauling experience is considered an asset
• Valid AZ License
• 3+ years of related AZ driving experience
• Top-notch backing skills a must
• Must be able to cross US border in a CMV daily
• Ability to provide a clean Driver's Abstract, CVOR Abstract, criminal check, and DOT regulated Drug testing
• Great attitude and work ethic
• Knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
• High level of personal integrity
