Job summary

Forbes Bros. Group of Companies is seeking an Apprentice Lineman to support construction and maintenance of power systems on Ontario transmission projects. The role involves learning under a Foreman, performing hands-on work, and developing Lineman skills through on-site training and certification toward Lineman status.

You will join field crews across Ontario, handle installation, inspection, and repair tasks, and participate in project rotations with safety at the forefront.

Qualifications

• At least six months of experience in powerline construction or related industry.
• Willingness to enroll in Lineman certification training and interpret site plans.
• Ability to distinguish colours.
• Strong safety awareness and hazard recognition.
• Good communication and time-management skills; able to work with minimal supervision.
• Able to perform physically demanding work in varying weather conditions.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driver’s abstract.

Responsibilities

• Assist with construction, installation, inspection, maintenance, modification, repair, and removal of power transmission and distribution systems.
• Transport materials and install power distribution cables, including underground trenches.
• Troubleshoot and repair overhead transmission lines and maintain distribution systems.
• Follow safety requirements and contribute to safety improvements.
• Learn to interpret site plans and construction drawings for field activities.
• Participate in training toward Lineman certification.
• Communicate with supervisors and crews and work safely to deadlines.
