Job summary

Wajax is seeking a Resident Mining Heavy Duty Technician in Grande Cache, AB. You will inspect, diagnose, rebuild, and test large mining equipment components, with emphasis on Hitachi shovels (EX1200–EX8000) and haul truck systems, while coordinating with customers and site teams.

The role requires a Journeyman Red Seal or progressing apprenticeship, 2–3 years in mining or related rebuild facilities, and strong hands-on mechanical skills. Occasional travel for field support may be required.

Qualifications

• Journeyman Red Seal Heavy Equipment Technician or apprenticeship in progress
• 2–3 years minimum experience, mining preferred
• Ability to interpret technical manuals and OEM specs

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and evaluate mining components to determine servicing or rebuild needs
• Perform major component rebuilds for Hitachi mining shovels and haul truck components
• Disassemble, analyze failures, recondition, assemble, and test per OEM specs
• Communicate with customers and site personnel for work authorization and updates
• Maintain documents, work orders, and service records
• Complete failure reports, warranty submissions, inspection forms, and QC docs
• Participate in OEM and internal training on equipment and tooling
• Adhere to Health & Safety policies and maintain clean, safe workspace
