Job summary

The Salvation Army in Calgary, AB is recruiting for a full-time onsite cook on a temporary 6-month contract. You will prepare nutritious meals following Menu and Food Safe guidelines, manage cooking processes, and ensure safety in all kitchen operations.

You will work as part of a team, maintain high sanitation standards, and support meal numbers and volunteer hours with accurate record-keeping. An emphasis on collaboration and safety pervades daily tasks.

Qualifications

• Completion of a formal post-secondary program (1 year).
• Red Seal Certification required for the role.
• Food Safe Level 1 certificate is mandatory.
• WHMIS and OH&S training are expected.
• Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Records check required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and serves nutritious meals per menus and regulations.
• Maintains Food Safe practices and records temperatures.
• Keeps kitchen clean, organized, and stocked, with safe storage.
• Assists with inventory, training, and daily operational tasks.
• Communicates clearly with staff and volunteers during service.
