Job summary

COSTI is seeking an Online Evening LINC Instructor to deliver a part-time English conversation class for newcomers. Classes run online, Mondays and Wednesdays, 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., for 6 hours weekly. The role focuses on speaking, listening, and practical communication in a supportive setting.

The ideal candidate holds a TESL Ontario/OCELT certificate, with 2+ years teaching adults, and experience with CLB 1–3. Proficiency in Zoom, MS Teams, and Avenue.ca is required.

Qualifications

• Valid TESL Ontario / OCELT certificate.
• Minimum two years’ experience teaching English to adult newcomers.
• Preference for CLB levels 1–3 experience.
• Proficient with Zoom, MS Teams, MS Office and LMS tools.
• Ability to adapt teaching to individual learners’ needs.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate engaging online English conversation classes for adult newcomers.
• Provide synchronous/asynchronous instruction using Zoom, MS Teams, and LMS tools.
• Develop level-appropriate topics and materials aligned with CLB 2012.
• Incorporate Avenue.ca and digital delivery tools into lessons.

## Online Evening LINC InstructorApply: 15-North York Centre: Part time: Posted 9 Days Ago: End Date: October 19, 2026 (4 days left to apply)**Scheduled Weekly Hours:**6**Union:**No**Work Shift:****Remote Type:****Duration:**November 1, 2026-March 31, 2027**Job Description:**The LINC Communication Class is a program to teach newcomers English with an emphasis on practical communication skills.This is a part-time contract position, scheduled to work 6 hours per week onMondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.Classes are delivered online. **DUTIES*** Facilitate engaging English language conversation classes for adult newcomers in a LINC program, focusing on the development of speaking, listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.* Provide synchronous and asynchronous online instruction using virtual conferencing tools, language learning software, and MS programs.* Develop and adapt level-appropriate conversation topics, activities, and learning materials aligned with the Revised Canadian Language Benchmarks 2012.* Integrate online resources, Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Avenue.ca, and other digital delivery tools in language instruction.* Conduct ongoing needs assessments with learners, assist them in setting learning goals, and develop lessons accordingly.* Facilitate discussions, group activities, and interactive learning opportunities that encourage learner participation, confidence, and fluency.* Provide informal feedback and language support to learners to encourage continuous improvement in communication skills.* Maintain attendance records and other documentation as required.**QUALIFICATIONS** * Valid TESL Ontario / OCELT certificate from TESL Ontario.* Minimum two years’ experience teaching English as a Second Language to adult newcomers.* Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in teaching CLB levels 1 to 3.* In-depth understanding of and experience using the Revised Canadian Language Benchmarks 2012 and the LINC Curriculum Guidelines.* Proficient in the application of Zoom, MS Teams, MS Office Programs, and online resources in delivery.* Ability to adapt teaching methodology to individual learners' needs/skill levels.* Excellent English communication and interpersonal skills.* Experience working in a multicultural environment.* Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of adult immigrants and refugees.* Ability to work independently with excellent organizational and time management skills.* Completion of Introduction to PBLA (Portfolio Based Language Assessment) and Avenue.ca Stage 2 training is an asset.**Hourly Rate:**$42.40-$42.40**COSTI encourages applications from individuals reflecting the diversity of our community.
