Qualifications include PBLA, LearnIT2Teach Stage 2, TESOL certificate, and an undergraduate degree with two years’ ESL experience preferred.

The Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) program offers free classes for recent immigrants. These courses focus on vocabulary development, grammar, speaking and listening, reading and writing, and settlement themes. These classes help students learn English for day-to-day living. Burnaby School District invites applications from qualified individuals effective immediately for the position of LINC Instructor.
Reporting to the Administrator of CCE, the LINC Instructor teaches level appropriate Literacy- English skills to adult immigrant and refugee newcomers while increasing their understanding of Canadian local, social, workplace and cultural norms. Connects immigrants to the community through field trips and guest speakers. Monitors student progress through the components of portfolio-based language assessments and provides feedback to students informally on an ongoing basis and formally through student progress reports and conferencing
Your application should include your resume, cover letter, degree from a recognized university and a certificate or diploma from a TESL Canada recognized training institution; PBLA training; minimum of two (2) years’ experience teaching ESL to adults and knowledge of Canadian Language Benchmark competencies and associated resources OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
