Job summary

The Upper Canada District School Board in Ontario seeks an Instructor to provide instruction to small groups of adult learners focusing on ESL, LBS, or LINC under the supervision of the Manager of Literacy & Language Services.

The successful candidate will collaborate with a team, deliver programming in accordance with ministry and board requirements, and bring TESL qualifications and experience teaching adults.

Qualifications

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Manager of Literacy & Language Services, the Instructor provides instruction to small groups of adult learners with a specific program focus (i.e. ESL, LBS, LINC) in accordance with respective and established assessment standards. The instructor consults with the Manager of Literacy & Language Services to deliver program assignments and works collaboratively within a team environment to ensure that appropriate programming is delivered accordingly to applicable and designated Ministry and Board requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

Possess a three year university degree or three year college diploma with a concentration in education, social work, sociology, psychology, linguistics or applied languages or in a related field. Familiarity with community support agencies pertaining to adult, family or employment-related issues is preferred.

A minimum of 2 years ESL instruction of adults is preferred. Related employment or volunteer experience in teaching, social work or immigration services is an asset. TESL qualifications or teaching qualifications in ESL is required.
