Job summary

Walcan Seafood Ltd. in British Columbia is seeking an on-site fish processing worker. You will cut and weigh fillets, trim and prepare seafood, and inspect products for quality. You will set up and operate canning, packaging, cleaning and processing equipment, and record production data.

The role requires 7 months to less than 1 year of experience, English language skills, and no degree. Work must be performed at the physical location with no remote option, and on-site supervision is provided.

Qualifications

• 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in fish/seafood processing or related work.
• Teamwork and ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
• Good attention to detail and ability to follow specifications.

Responsibilities

• Cut and weigh fish fillets according to specifications.
• Cut, clean and trim fish or seafood prior to marketing or further processing.
• Inspect fillets to determine optimal number and size of fillets.
• Scrape away scales, cut fish, separate fillets and remove scrap parts using knife.
• Check products and packaging for defects and ensure conformance to company standards.
• Record production information.
• Set up and operate machines to can, bag, box or package fish and seafood products.
• Set up and operate machines to clean, cut, cook, smoke, brine, dehydrate or process fish/seafood.
• Sort fish according to species, weight and destination.
• Package products.
• Grade products.
