Job summary

Elk Valley Resources (EVR), part of Glencore, seeks an Engineer or Engineer in Training, Mining, to develop and optimize mid-range mine plans at Elkview Operations in British Columbia.

You will execute pit, spoil, and haul road design, build 2-5 year schedules, conduct strategic evaluations, and consider sustainable development impacts, while collaborating with a team to drive safety and value.

Qualifications

• BSc in Mining Engineering or related field
• EGBC registration or eligibility; EVR supports registration
• Experience with XPAC Solutions and Minesight 3D
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
• Self-motivated with minimal supervision

Responsibilities

• Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
• Execute on mine planning deliverables including pit, spoil, and haulage design
• Perform iterative production scheduling from KPI analysis to coal blending results
• Influence site decision making through data analysis and mining best practices
• Perform economic evaluations, productivity analyses, strategic planning assessments, and peer reviews
• Communicate mine development projects to permitting groups within the business unit
• Assist in developing mine permit applications and amendments and ensure permit compliance
