Job summary

Elkview Operations, part of Glencore and EVR, seeks an Engineer or Engineer in Training for Mining to develop and optimize mid-range mine plans in British Columbia. The role covers pit, spoil, and haul road design, 2–5 year scheduling, and sustainable development considerations, within a collaborative, safety‑driven team.

You will analyze KPI data, perform economic evaluations, and communicate project updates to permitting groups while progressing through a formal EGBC path and a compressed work

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Registered, or eligible to register, with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC); EVR will support eligible employees with their EGBC registration
• Proficiency in mine scheduling software such as XPAC Solutions, and mine design software such as Minesight 3D
• Solid understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite®
• Motivated self-starter, able to work under minimal supervision
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
• Execute on a wide range of mine planning deliverables including pit, spoil, and haulage design while considering potential sustainable development impacts
• Perform iterative production scheduling from KPI analysis to estimated coal blending results
• Influence site decision making through detailed data analysis and sound mining practices
• Perform economic evaluations, productivity analyses, strategic planning assessments, and peer reviews
• Communicate mine development projects to the permitting groups within the business unit
• Assist in developing mine permit applications and amendments and ensure mine plans are following permit compliance
