Job summary

Elk Valley Resources (EVR) is seeking an Engineer or Engineer in Training, Mining, to develop and optimize mid-range plans at Elkview Operations in BC. You will design pits, spoil piles, and haul roads, and craft 2–5 year schedules while weighing sustainable development impacts.

You should be self-motivated, team‑oriented, and ready to collaborate with all levels of the organization. Strong communication and problem‑solving skills are essential to deliver effective decision making.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering or related field.
  • Registered or eligible to register with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC). EVR supports registration.
  • Proficiency in XPAC Solutions and Minesight 3D.
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies.
  • Execute mine planning deliverables: pit, spoil, haulage design and sustainable development impacts.
  • Perform iterative production scheduling from KPI analysis to coal blending results.
  • Influence site decisions through data analysis and mining practices.
  • Conduct economic evaluations and strategic planning assessments.
  • Communicate mine development projects to permitting groups within the unit.
  • Assist in developing mine permit applications and amendments and ensure permit compliance.

About the role:

Reporting to the Senior Engineering Supervisor, the Engineer or Engineer in Training, Mining, isresponsible for developing and optimizing strategic mid-range plans at Elkview Operations. The role involves executing all aspects of mid-range planningincluding pit, spoil, and haul road design optimizations, 2-5 year schedules, strategicevaluations, all while considering potential impacts to sustainable development. This role is anexcellent opportunity for an engineer looking to make a positive impact on the business.

In this role you will:
  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
  • Execute on a wide range of mine planning deliverables including pit, spoil, and haulage design whileconsidering potential sustainable development impacts
  • Perform iterative production scheduling from KPI analysis to estimated coal blending results
  • Influence site decision making through detailed data analysis and sound miningpractices
  • Perform economic evaluations, productivity analyses,strategic planning assessments, and peer reviews
  • Communicate mine development projects to the permitting groups within the business unit
  • Assist in developing mine permit applications and amendments and ensure mine plans arefollowing permit compliance
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination ofeducation and experience
  • Registered, or eligible to register, with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC);EVR will support eligible employees with their EGBC registration
  • Proficiency in mine scheduling software such as XPAC Solutions, and mine design softwaresuch as Minesight 3D
  • Solid understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite®
  • Motivated self-starter, able to work under minimal supervision
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent

Salary: $91,300 to $126,800 CAD/year

For applicants registered as an EIT or GIT, annual base salary will be determined by EVR's formal progression matrix based on verified relevant years of experience.

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
