Job summary

House of Friendship in Waterloo Region seeks a Building Superintendent to oversee safe, well-maintained housing and manage occupancy, rent processing, and documentation. You will coordinate moves, inspections, and contractor schedules while supporting residents with clear, respectful communication.

The role requires a 3-year college degree or diploma in a related field and 3+ years in residential operations or property management, with on-site availability and occasional travel.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3-year college degree or diploma in a relevant field; equivalent experience considered.
• 3+ years of relevant experience in residential building operations or property management.
• Experience with rent collection, occupancy records, notices, and housing administration.
• Comfort working with residents and knowledge of anti-racism, trauma-informed approaches.
• Ability to coordinate maintenance, inspections, and pest control with vendors.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day oversight of supported and affordable housing buildings and common areas.
• Act as on-site contact for residents, Housing staff, and contractors regarding operations.
• Collect and track rent payments and housing charges per House of Friendship procedures.
• Maintain occupancy records, tenancy documents, notices, and turnover documentation.
• Coordinate moves, inspections, repairs, and vendor scheduling to ensure safety.
• Support health, safety, and pest control actions; document incidents and follow-up.
• Use Acoris software to support workflows and reporting; maintain records diligently.
