Clean Harbors in Courtenay, BC is seeking an On-Site Hazardous Waste Technician to support HHW Programs at Campbell River and Cumberland Waste Management Centers. Responsibilities include packaging and consolidating waste, operating a forklift, and handling hazardous materials on customer sites.

You will work at two client sites, uphold health and safety, ensure regulatory compliance, inspect drums, collect and pack HHW items, and perform waste sampling as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in environmental services or household hazardous waste.
• Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Proficient with Windows-based applications and learning new systems.

Responsibilities

• Work as an on-site waste technician for two client sites.
• Ensure Health and Safety is the priority by following safe work practices and policies.
• Package waste to maximize efficiency and maintain compliance.
• Inspect drums for container integrity and regulatory compliance.
• Operate forklift safely.
• Collect, identify, segregate, and pack HHW items from both client sites.
• Safely load and unload waste hauling vehicles.
• Conduct waste stream sampling and profiling as necessary.
• Use Class 5 (minimum) license to operate units safely.
• May be assigned additional duties based on business needs.

• Working as an on-site waste technician for two client sites.
• Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times.
• Responsible for proper packaging of waste to maximize efficiency and maintain compliance.
• Inspect drums for container integrity and regulatory compliance.

• Responsible for the safe loading and unloading of waste hauling vehicles.
• Conduct waste stream sampling and profiling as necessary.
• Use Class 5 (minimum) License to operate units safely.
• May be assigned additional duties not listed above based on business needs.

Qualifications:

• Valid Class 5 license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation. CDL is a strong asset.
• Experience withenvironmental services/household hazardous waste.
• Experience inlabor-intensive rolesand working outdoorsin all weatherconditions.
• Forklift certificationpreferred.
• Safety certifications suchasTDG, WHMIS, andFirst Aidpreferred.
• Strong ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Comfortable usingWindows-based applications and learning new systems.
• Strongcustomer service andcommunication skills.
