Job summary

Clean Harbors Fort McMurray is seeking a Class 3 Operator/Hazardous Waste Specialist (Insite Chemist) to provide hazardous waste services on-site at Suncor Fort Hills. Responsibilities include loading, packaging and segregation of materials, TDG labeling, and safety documentation while coordinating with the Insite Supervisor.

The role requires a Class 3 license with a clean driving record, truck-mounted forklift operation, and a 12-hour shift on a 7-on/7-off schedule.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years' experience with Hazardous Waste.
• Class 3 license with clean driving record.
• Manual transmission experience; forklift and skid steer preferred.
• Able to work a 7 on/7 off schedule, 12-hour days indoors and outdoors.
• Independent and takes ownership of daily responsibilities.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and basic business software.

Responsibilities

• Load and transport materials onsite to the waste transfer facility using a flat deck truck and truck mounted forklift.
• Segregate and pack material in accordance with provincial and federal legislation.
• Prepare shipping paperwork and label drums per TDG regulations.
• Maintain excellent customer relations.
• Ensure drum count is correct and drums are shippable per policies and TDG regulations.
• Understand customer disposal requirements.
• Report near misses and incidents to supervision promptly.
• Collaborate with Insite Supervisor on other duties.

Clean Harbors in Fort McMurray, AB is seeking a Class 3 Operator/Hazardous Waste Specialist (known internally as an Insite Chemist) to join their safety conscious team on-site at Suncor Fort Hills. The successful candidate will be responsible for working both indoors and outdoors to provide hazardous waste services at our customer facilities. Responsibilities include the loading, packaging and segregation of materials and waste products, completion of health and safety field level documents, bin tracking and waste profiling. The Insite Chemist will be managing small bin services around site with a truck mounted forklift.

Schedule: 7 days on, 7 days off schedule. 12-hour workdays.

RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS

• 1-3 years' experience with Hazardous Waste.
• Class 3 license required with clean driving record.
• Manual transmission operating experience.
• Equipment experience with forklift and skid steer preferred
• Comfortable working a 7 on and 7 off schedule, 12 hours day inside and outside.
• Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of daily responsibilities
• Intermediate computer proficiency required. Ability to navigate Microsoft Office and business software applications.
