Job summary

DeFord Contracting Inc. is seeking a Truck & Trailer Heavy Equipment Technician for civil construction projects in the Greater Edmonton Area. You will diagnose repairs, support the fleet manager on tasks, ensure on-site safety, and maintain on-highway trucks and trailers.

CVIP licence and Class 3 are assets; 2-5 years’ experience in civil construction are preferred. Experience with Cummins/Detroit engines is helpful; a safety-focused mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2-5 years’ experience; civil construction is asset
• Experience on highway commercial vehicles; asset
• Interprovincial Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Certification; asset
• Or minimum 2nd Year Apprentice with experience
• Must possess CVIP licence
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills
• Understanding of lines like Caterpillar; asset
• Must possess safety dedication
• Engine or component rebuilding experience; asset
• Transmission or Hydraulic testing; asset
• Ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision
• Reliable transportation and positive attitude

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and troubleshoot repairs by interfacing with field staff
• Collaborate with Fleet Manager on various tasks
• Support on-site safety requirements
• Maintain on-highway trucks and trailers
• Assist with CVIP inspections and running repairs
• Diagnose and troubleshoot Cummins and Detroit trucks

Responsibilities:

• Interface with field staff in order to diagnose repairs
• Work with the Fleet Manager on various tasks
• Provide support with reference to on-site safety requirements
• Look after on-highway trucks and trailers
• Help with CVIP inspections and running repairs
• Diagnosing and troubleshooting Cummings and Detroit trucks

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2-5 years’ experience - experience working in civil construction is considered an asset
• Experience working on highway commercial vehicles; considered an asset
• Interprovincial Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Certification; considered an asset
• OR minimum 2nd Year Apprentice with experience
• Must possess valid Driver’s Licence; Class 3 considered an asset
• Must possess CVIP licence
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills, both written and verbal
• Understanding of the Caterpillar product line, considered an asset
• Must possess a strong dedication to safety
• Engine and/or component rebuilding experience, considered an asset
• Transmission or Hydraulic testing, considered an asset
