Qualifications

• Post-secondary diploma in childcare or education.
• Minimum 2 years of demonstrated childcare experience with school-aged children.
• Criminal Record Check.
• First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

• Participating in the day-to-day operations of the program and care of the students.
• Helping to plan and execute the weekly or daily program of activities based on themes.
• Maintaining written records of schedule and activities.
• Ordering and purchasing program materials as necessary.
• Maintaining area and materials in a well-organized and orderly manner.
• Working cooperatively with other staff members and supervisors.
• Communicating effectively with students, parents, and school staff.
• Recording daily attendance.
• Ensuring that students are signed in and picked up in accordance with St. Margaret's policy of student safety and supervision.
• Adhering to the VIHA BC Child Care Licensing Regulation requirements pertaining to a Group Child Care. (e.g. First Aid, cleanliness, child to adult ratio, attendance records, practice drills, etc.)
• Maintaining medical and emergency contact information of participants.
• Being knowledgeable in evacuation and emergency procedures in the Out of School Care area.
