Job summary

Brookes Westshore is seeking an On Call Dorm Parent to support our boarding program in Victoria, BC. You will help create a safe, inclusive living environment and assist students with daily activities, health needs, and personal development.

Responsibilities include mentoring students, enforcing safety procedures, and coordinating with staff while on duty. Previous boarding school experience and a Diploma in Education or related field are preferred.

Qualifications

• Ministry Criminal Record Check for working with vulnerable populations is required.
• CPR Level C First Aid certification to be obtained within one month of employment.
• Diploma in Education, Child & Youth Care or equivalent.
• Leadership experience and Boarding School experience preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Build rapport with students to facilitate open communication.
• Ensure student needs are met including health, social wellbeing, behaviour management, and emotional support.
• Supervise evening curfews and morning wake-up procedures and follow safety protocols.
• Serve as mentor, supervisor and positive role model for students.
• Support students in academic and personal difficulties and promote respect for self and others.
