Roth Canada is seeking an Equity Research Associate to support a Senior Energy Research Analyst covering Canadian oil and gas producers, including SMID-cap names in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin.

The role emphasizes research, data collection, and financial modeling, with opportunities to participate in client calls and corporate access events. Collaboration with a growing team in a dynamic, regulated market.

Qualifications

• Quick learner with keen interest in oil and gas sector.
• University degree in financial or business discipline; technical background a plus.
• CFA designation desired but not required.
• 1–3 years in capital markets, corporate finance, or technical oil & gas role.
• Advanced Excel and financial modeling; ability to build auditable models from scratch.
• Familiarity with geoSCOUT, AssetBook, FactSet or Bloomberg is an asset.
• Strong attention to detail and writing/communication skills.
• Ability to work independently under tight time constraints.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain detailed operating and financial models including production forecasts and NAV builds.
• Update models with quarterly results, reserve reports, guidance revisions; reconcile variances.
• Extract data from SEDAR+ filings and investor materials; use geo databases.
• Maintain comparable company analyses, price decks, and sector screens.
• Draft sections of initiation reports, earnings notes, and company updates.
• Support analyst on client calls, marketing trips, and events.
• Ensure compliance with CFA standards of practice.
