Job summary

The Government of Nova Scotia is seeking an Occupational Health and Safety Officer in Port Hawkesbury for a permanent role. You will independently implement the Internal Responsibility System across diverse workplaces and advise employers, employees, unions, and others about OH&S duties and regulations.

Reporting to the Regional Director, you will conduct inspections, enforce compliance, and promote safety. A valid driver’s license and vehicle access are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma with OH&S training and 7 years of related experience.
• Ability to work independently and in a team with strong stakeholder relations.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle; background checks required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct workplace inspections and investigations as assigned.
• Issue orders and initiate prosecution actions when required.
• Provide information and guidance on OH&S duties and regulations to stakeholders.
