OH! ZZHU SAM KOREAN RESTAURANT in Burnaby, BC is hiring a chef to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis.

Salary ranges CAD 30.00 to 40.00 hourly; terms include permanent employment, 30-40 hours per week, with 4% vacation pay; start date as soon as possible.

Requirements: English, Cook’s trade certification or equivalent, minimum two years of commercial cooking experience. Duties include preparing meals, supervising cooks, planning menus, and maintaining quality.

Job Requirements

• Languages: English
• Education: Cook’s trade certification OR equivalent credentials, training and/or experience
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of commercial cooking experience

Responsibilities / Tasks

1. Estimate amount and costs of supplies and food items
2. Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales and inventory
3. Demonstrate new cooking techniques and new equipment to cooking staff
4. Create new recipes
5. Instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food
6. Supervise cooks and other kitchen staff
7. Prepare and cook food on a regular basis, or for special guests or functions
8. Prepare and cook meals or specialty foods
9. Requisition food and kitchen supplies
10. Arrange for equipment purchases and repairs
11. Plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards
12. Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food

Offers on-the-job training tailored to youth
Provides awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment for youth
