Job summary

FortisBC is seeking an Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) Business Partner to join the Contractor Safety Management team in Surrey, British Columbia. The role focuses on advising on contractor safety management, ensuring compliance with procedures and regulatory requirements.

You will lead safety forums, support onboarding, risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations, while promoting a strong safety culture and cross-functional collaboration across projects and zones.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in OH&S or related field.
• OH&S certification (CRSP/CRST) or ability to obtain one.
• Willingness to travel and hold a valid BC driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Develop understanding of the business structure and safety management system.
• Build relationships with stakeholders and support safety culture.
• Provide SME on contractor safety management ensuring compliance with procedures and regulations.
• Collaborate with teams on risk assessments, audits, safe work procedures, and incident investigations.
• Evaluate effectiveness of contractor safety practices and drive program improvement.
• Guide multi-employer workplace interactions among employer, owner, and prime contractor.
• Participate in project safety meetings and share learnings across the department.
