Job summary

FortisBC is seeking an Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) Business Partner to join our Contractor Safety Management team in Surrey, BC. You will advise on contractor safety, ensure regulatory compliance, and support safety initiatives across projects.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in OH&S and 4–7 years of related experience, with OH&S certification preferred. Travel and a BC driver’s license are required, and a flexible work arrangement is available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, or related discipline.
• 4–7 years of recent OH&S experience.
• OH&S certification (e.g., CRSP, CRST) or ability to obtain.
• Willingness to travel and valid BC driver’s license.
• Strong communication, teamwork and collaboration skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office and safety software.

Responsibilities

• Develop understanding of FortisBC’s structure and safety culture.
• Build relationships with stakeholders and lead contractor safety forums.
• Provide subject matter expertise on contractor safety compliance.
• Collaborate with teams on onboarding, risk assessment, field audits and training.
• Periodically evaluate program effectiveness and identify improvements.
• Oversee contractor safety management across projects.
• Guide on multi-employer workplace interactions per WorkSafeBC guidance.
• Participate in project safety meetings and quarterly learnings.
• Attend contractor safety summits and engagement events.
