Job summary

CAMH is seeking a full-time Occupational Therapist for the Psychosis Coordinated Care Service (PCCS) at the Queen Street Site. The role involves client-centered psychiatric care, assessment, and coordinating an interdisciplinary care plan to support recovery and community re-engagement.

Qualifications

• Must be registered and in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO).
• Master's degree in Occupational Therapy (or Bachelor's in OT plus Master's in OT, Rehab Sciences or related field).
• Three (3) years of experience working with individuals who have a serious mental illness.
• Membership in the Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists and/or Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists and possession of COTO's professional liability insurance.
• Experience completing functional/vocational assessments and running groups; knowledge of recovery principles, crisis intervention and family work.
• Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in another language is an asset.

Responsibilities

Job Description

TheClinical Care Program is currently seeking a full-time, temporary (12 months) Occupational Therapist to work in the Psychosis Coordinated Care Service (PCCS). This service provides support for clients who do not require hospitalization but require a highly structured treatment program to transition either from an inpatient setting, or who require increased support in the community to prevent decompensation. The overall program philosophy incorporates a recovery model and emphasizes: education to clients regarding their illnesses, access to treatment and recovery, acute stabilization of symptoms and promotes progress with continued recovery. Clients receive individualized, focused, goal oriented support to facilitate stabilization of symptoms in a less restrictive, environment. PCCS is skill based with intensive group therapy with the goals of stabilizing clients to help them reengage in community activities.

Responsibilities

As a member of a community based interprofessional team, the occupational therapist will provide client-centered psychiatric care, and ensure secure and safe adherence to standards of Occupational Therapy practice. Using a primary/case coordinator model, you will be expected to perform assessments, develop, implement and evaluate the interdisciplinary plan of client care for clients. You will work in partnership with clients, their formal and informal supports, and the team, to meet their recovery goals. You will function as the primary worker for a number of clients, while being available to the team’s other registered clients, and contributing in a discipline specific role. You will liaise with other services in the Schizophrenia & Psychosis Program and the community to coordinate care and you will refer and link clients to appropriate services and resources. You will be able to work with clients from diverse populations; contribute to program development including facilitation and evaluation of groups, provide education support and supervision to students, and participate in the research activities of the program. Training in CAT, CBT and BCATS is an asset, or an interest in receiving these trainings. Opportunities to design and lead new interventions via telemedicine are encouraged. Your skills include the ability to provide evidence-based psychosocial rehabilitation assessment and treatment, make behavioral observations, mental status assessments, physical/functional mobility assessments, documentation and ongoing communication with other team members. You will have sound knowledge of emergency psychiatry, crisis intervention, addiction issues and severe and persistent mental illness. You must have membership in either the Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists and/or Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists and be a holder of COTO's pre-requisite professional liability insurance. You must have demonstrable experience in completing functional/vocational assessments and running groups; knowledge of recovery principles, crisis intervention and family work. The successful candidate will also possess excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, along with ability to work effectively as a team member in a dynamic interprofessional environment. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in another language would be an asset.

Salary Range: $40.77 – $52.98 per hour
