Job summary

Ontario Shores Centre for MHS is seeking a Mental Health Occupational Therapist to deliver evidence-based psychotherapies for anxiety and mood disorders. You will assess, treat, and educate clients, families, and community partners.

Join an interdisciplinary team providing individual and group therapy, case management, and discharge planning with in-person and Telemedicine services. Registration with COTO and HCP CPR are required.

Qualifications

• Master's in Occupational Therapy, or equivalent, required.
• Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO).
• Current CPR - Health Care Provider (HCP) is required.
• Demonstrated knowledge of CBT and IPT modalities.
• 3–5 years psychiatric experience in a mental health facility or service is preferred.
• 3–5 years community-based mental health experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of Mental Health Act and PHIPA is required.
• Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Competence in individual and group evidence-based therapies.
• Training in psychoeducational groups; presentations are an asset.
• Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills.
• Second language proficiency is an asset.
• Ability to perform physical demands; variable hours/locations may be required.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Outpatient Services at Ontario Shores is seeking a Mental Health Occupational Therapist to provide mental health services through evidence based psychotherapies to individuals with Anxiety and Mood Disorders. As a key member of the team, you will provide clinical assessment and treatment, consultative and educational services to clients, families, community providers, referral sources and other community partners.

You will have demonstrated initiative and creative approaches to challenging situations and will be ready to work collaboratively within a specialized evidence-based service. You will have formal training in CBT and preferably IPT, with experience in working with clients who have complex issues such as Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. You will work actively with our interdisciplinary teams to provide individual and group therapy, case management, community outreach, consultation, education services and discharge planning. Client service will be through traditional in person methodology as well as in a virtual environment using Telemedicine.

Requirements

• Masters in Occupational Therapy, or equivalent, required.
• A current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario.

• Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory college requirements.
• Demonstrated knowledge in CBT and IPT modalities.
• 3-5 years psychiatric experience in a mental health facility or service is preferred

• Demonstrated knowledge of Mental Health, and relevant policies and legislation, such as the Mental Health Act and PHIPA is required.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a interdisciplinary team.
• Demonstrated competence in individual and group evidence based manualized therapies.
• Training and/or experience in facilitating psychoeducational groups
• Experience with presentations is an asset.
• The candidate will have demonstrated excellent interpersonal and effective oral/written communication skills.
• The ability to work with clients of diverse ethno racial and cultural backgrounds and proficiency in a second language would be considered an asset.
• Ability to perform the physical demands of the position.
• Variable hours and locations may be required due to patient demand.
