Job summary

Manitoba Hydro is seeking an Occupational Therapist to provide expert guidance on rehabilitation, ergonomics, and injury prevention in a team-based setting. The temporary position covers case management, accommodation recommendations, and workplace safety collaborations.

The role requires a degree in occupational therapy, Manitoba registration, and a minimum of five years of experience, with ergonomics considered an asset. A Manitoba driver’s license is also required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy from a recognized university.
  • Must be registered with the College of Occupational Therapists of Manitoba.
  • Minimum of five years' experience in occupational therapy; ergonomics experience is an asset.
  • Valid Driver's Licence in Manitoba.
  • Knowledge of the Workplace Safety and Health Act, the Human Rights Code, and the Personal Health Information Act.
  • Demonstrated analytical ability, initiative, self-motivation, and mature judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consultation for case management of claims related to rehabilitation, musculoskeletal injuries, and ergonomics.
  • Evaluate medical information to provide evidence-based recommendations for workplace accommodation.
  • Conduct ergonomic assessments and recommend improvements.
  • Coordinate Job Demands Analysis to establish bona fide job requirements and safe return-to-work planning.
  • Conduct Job Hazard Assessments and provide safety recommendations.
  • Act as liaison to connect employees and management with injury prevention resources.
  • Support ergonomic and injury prevention programs.
  • Report timely and communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and deliver health education presentations and guidance resources.
  • Collaborate with occupational health teams on continuous improvement initiatives.

Position Overview:

The Occupational Therapist provides professional advice in a team-based environment on matters including case management, rehabilitation, ergonomics, injury and illness prevention and investigation, accommodation, and return to work activities. Please note this is a temporary position with a duration of approximately six months.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide consultation for the case management of claims related to rehabilitation, musculoskeletal injuries, and ergonomics.
  • Evaluate medical information from various sources to provide evidence-based recommendations for workplace accommodation.
  • Conduct ergonomic assessments and provide recommendations to improve ergonomics.
  • Conduct and/or coordinate Job Demands Analysis to establish bona fide job requirements and facilitate safe return-to-work planning.
  • Conduct Job Hazard Assessments and provide respective recommendations to facilitate safer work.
  • Act as a liaison to connect employees and line management with injury prevention and early intervention resources.
  • Support ergonomic and injury prevention programs.
  • Perform timely reporting, and communication with internal and external stakeholders, as required.
  • Develop and deliver health education presentations and other guidance resources to increase overall awareness occupational health matters.
  • Collaborate with the occupational health and disability management teams to develop and implement continuous improvement and business plan initiatives.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy from a recognized university.
  • Must be registered with the College of Occupational Therapists of Manitoba.
  • Minimum of five years' experience in occupational therapy, experience with ergonomics considered an asset.
  • Possess a valid Driver's Licence in the province of Manitoba.
  • Knowledge of related legislation and regulations, including the Workplace Safety and Health Act, the Human Rights Code, the Personal Health Information Act.
  • Possess an analytical nature, initiative, self-motivation, and mature judgment skills, with the demonstrated ability to make and implement sound decisions.
Salary Range

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $44.75-$61.75 Hourly.
