Job summary

Northern Health - BC is seeking a Registered Occupational Therapist to join Community and Long-Term Care Services. The role focuses on assessment, treatment planning and implementation, program planning, equipment prescription, and educating residents and caregivers to promote functional independence.

You will work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team, contribute to department quality initiatives, and oversee rehabilitation assistants as needed. Monday–Friday, 08:00–16:00.

Qualifications

  • Assessment and intervention planning within a long-term care setting.
  • Ability to educate residents and caregivers for functional independence.
  • Collaboration with rehabilitation team in a multidisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assess residents/clients and plan/treat/implement OT interventions.
  • Plan programs, prescribe equipment, and educate staff and families.
  • Promote functional independence and contribute to quality initiatives.

We currently have an opportunity for you to bring your excellent work ethic to our Community and Long-Term Care Services department.

In accordance with established vision and values of the organization and practicing in accordance with the standards of professional practice and code of ethics as outlined by the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia, the occupational therapist works independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team providing long term care occupational therapy services including assessment, treatment planning and implementation, program planning, consultation, equipment prescription and education of residents/clients/patients (‘the client’) and/or their caregivers/staff to promote functional independence and enable the client to achieve and maintain optimal health outcomes. The occupational therapist contributes to the organization and the overall goals of the department; participates in departmental/program quality assurance initiatives, meetings, research, and education; and provides work direction to the rehabilitation assistants working with the rehabilitation team in regards to transfer of function.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work

Monday to Friday, Days - 08:00 to 16:00
