Job summary

The Calgary John Howard Society (CJHS) is seeking a compassionate Occupational Therapist to join the Employment Hub. This outreach-based role supports adults transitioning from correctional settings into the community and into sustainable employment, applying occupational therapy models to address mental health, addictions, physical health, and daily living.

Qualifications

• Degree in Occupational Therapy and registration with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists.
• Experience working with marginalized populations, including those with mental health and addiction challenges.
• Strong understanding of community resources and healthcare systems.
• Excellent communication, assessment, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
• Brain Story Certification considered an asset.

• Develop and implement client-centered intervention plans.
• Facilitate referrals and liaise with healthcare providers and community resources.
• Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to program development and evaluation.

• Facilitate group sessions to increase client ability to enter the workforce.

The Program

The Employment Hub is a dynamic, trauma-informed, and client-centered program designed to support adults who are currently involved in, or have had previous involvement with, the criminal justice system. Recognizing the complex barriers faced by this population, the Hub offers a comprehensive range of employment-focused services that promote personal growth, economic independence, and long-term community reintegration.
