Job summary

Silver Hills is seeking an Occupational Health & Safety Advisor to partner with our operations team in Abbotsford,BC. This role focuses on developing, implementing, and managing OHS programs, with hands-on coaching and training to staff while pursuing OSSE certification.

You will champion safety, collaborate with departments, and drive continuous improvement across a growing family-owned food production environment.

Qualifications

  • CRSP designation or equivalent
  • 2+ years experience in OHS
  • Post-secondary education in a related field
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience creating and delivering training programs
  • Ability to lead and influence stakeholders
  • Familiarity with OSSE and safety program management

Responsibilities

  • Engage workforce on health and safety importance.
  • Monitor and implement effective OH&S programs.
  • Coordinate training with stakeholders and manage risks.
  • Chair monthly Health & Safety Committee meetings.
  • Provide OHS support to operations, engineering and support teams.
  • Submit monthly safety reports and track project status.
  • Investigate incidents and complete thorough investigations.
  • Maintain safety communications and coach staff on policy.

Position: Occupational Health & Safety Advisor Reports to: Director, Operations

We are looking for an Occupational Health & Safety Advisor to join our Operations team! This role is primarily responsible for working with the Operations team to develop, implement, and manage the Occupational Health and Safety programs!

As our Occupational Health and Safety Advisor, you will provide hands‑on coaching and training to staff while working towards OSSE certification. This role will be challenging and extremely rewarding for an individual with high standards of integrity, energy level, and self‑motivation to tackle pressing OH&S priorities as we continue to expand.   • You have a working knowledge of various computer applications including Office 365 including SharePoint.
  • You have at least 2 years of experience working as an OHS professional
  • You have related post‑secondary education

  • Occupational Health and Safety Certificate/Diploma
  • Experience working in a food manufacturing environment.

  • Engage and empower the workforce around the importance of Health and Safety
  • Monitor, analyze, and implement effective occupational safety and health programs.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to deliver training/information sessions, manage risks, and develop safe work practices.
  • Chair monthly Health & Safety Committee meetings and facilitate Health & Safety policies and programs.
  • Provide OHS support to operations, engineering and associated support departments.
  • Provide monthly safety reporting, regular feedback on project status updates, and document incremental savings on WCB premiums.
  • Ensure the completion of comprehensive and results focused incident/accident investigations.
  • Maintain effective and progressive safety communication vehicles and coach team members on OHS policy and procedures.
  • Manage WorkSafeBC related claims, Return to Work programs, create Training & Development standards and more.
  • Introduce creative Safety programs to engage staff to help support company objectives
