Position Summary

Thales has a vacancy for an Obsolescence Co-op/Intern. As an Obsolescence Intern you will be a proactive and motivated individual within the Reliability team focusing on Obsolescence management. In this role, the individual will support the team in ensuring the long-term reliability and availability of our customer's assets by assisting with the identification, analysis, and mitigation of obsolescence risks.

Regulatory Compliance Requirement

This position requires direct or indirect access to hardware, software or technical information controlled under the Canadian Export Control List and/or the US the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). All applicants must be eligible or able to obtain authorization for such access

Key Areas of Responsibility

Accountable to the THALES TCDS Reliability Manager, the Obsolescence Co-op/Intern will:

  • Assist in tracking and monitoring component obsolescence within product lifecycles.
  • Support the evaluation and implementation of alternative components and solutions to mitigate obsolescence impact.
  • Participate in data gathering and analysis related to component reliability and obsolescence trends.
  • Help maintain up-to-date documentation and reports for obsolescence management activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, procurement, and supply chain to support obsolescence mitigation strategies.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Reliability and Obsolescence management processes.
  • Support investigation and root cause analysis of reliability issues linked to obsolescence.
  • Perform research on industry best practices and new tools or methodologies for obsolescence management.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in a relevant college or university program (e.g., Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Reliability Engineering, or related discipline).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork capabilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently with guidance.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy.
  • Prior knowledge or coursework related to reliability engineering or obsolescence management is an asset.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience working with a defense contract.
  • Experience supporting an operational military asset.
  • Experience working in or developing Jira Kanban boards.
  • Experience with MS SharePoint.
  • Experience with gathering data using Google and AI tools.
  • Experience with hardware or software obsolescence.
Special Position Requirements

Schedule: 40 hours per week

Physical Environment: Office

Travel: Occasional domestic or international travel may be required, including access to government facilities assets.

Pay Transparency

The anticipated Total Target Compensation (TTC), inclusive of annual salary and bonus eligibility, for this role is $48,000 to 60,000 CAD Annual. The Company reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's status protected by local, provincial, and federal laws.
