Job summary

Okta seeks an Observability Engineer for the Auth0 Platform Observability team. You will monitor, observe, and improve the platform’s reliability, partnering with Product and Platform Engineers to ship software rapidly while strengthening instrumentation and telemetry across services.

You will champion best practices, run production services, and design scalable observability solutions using Datadog, Terraform, and OpenTelemetry, with a focus on high availability and incident response.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of platform engineering, SRE, or DevOps experience.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure).
• Expertise in Datadog ecosystem (Metrics, Logs, Traces, Alerting) including Terraform-driven configurations.
• Strong coding skills in Node.js or Golang.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Data-driven debugging of cross-service bottlenecks; microservice architecture knowledge.
• Experience mentoring engineers and leading cross-functional initiatives.
• Hands-on experience with OpenTelemetry or similar instrumentation frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Champion observability best practices and educate teams on standardized instrumentation.
• Operate services in production and ensure high availability.
• Design services for high growth and availability; provision and monitor cloud-native infra.
• Build and maintain scalable observability infrastructure using Terraform.
• Troubleshoot performance and operational issues; automate tasks and scripts.
• Contribute to performance testing and automation; incident diagnosis and root-cause analysis.
• Lead cross-team initiatives to improve instrumentation across the engineering org.
