Job summary

University Health Network (UHN) is seeking a Part-Time Nutrition Services staff at Toronto General Hospital. The role involves filling orders, delivering food, and receiving inventory, following FIFO and safety procedures. Flexibility with shifts and weekends is required.

Candidates should have at least a high school diploma, some related experience, and good verbal/written communication. Ability to lift up to 20 kg and work in a cold environment is necessary.

Qualifications

• Completion of high school or recognized equivalent.
• 3 months to less than 6 months practical experience or on-the-job training.
• Able to understand verbal work orders and instructions.
• Able to read/understand notes, forms, invoices, orders and memos.
• Professional and courteous demeanor with deadlines in accordance to UHN standards.
• Initiative and good judgment with ability to multi-task.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Customer service oriented with engagement across diverse backgrounds.
• Able to meet physical demands: lift 11 kg to 20 kg.
• Able to work in a refrigerated environment.
• Food Handlers course completion is an asset.

Hours:Up to 24 hours per week
Wage Range:$27.30 - $28.11 per hour.Start rate non-negotiable.
Shifts:0700-1500 Monday-Sunday; various shifts including alternating weekends and Statutory Holidays
Status:Temporary Part-Time
Closing Date: September 10, 2026

Duties

• Filling orders for multiple departments/sites applying “First in First out” system when removing items from locations and bin numbers;
• Delivering food trucks and orders to designated locations, as per established schedule, unloading and putting items in designated location;
• Receiving and storing incoming goods, following safety precautions;

Qualifications

• At minimum, completion of high school or recognized equivalent;
• 3 months to less than 6 months practical and related experience and/or 3 months to less than 6 months on the job training;
• Must be able to understand verbal work orders and instructions;
• Must be able to read/understand short notes, brief forms, invoices, orders and memos;
• Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance to UHN code of conduct standards;
• Exercise initiative and good judgment with ability to multi-task;
• Effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills;
• Client service oriented, with the ability to effectively work with diversity and appreciate that people with different opinions, backgrounds and characteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at hand;
• Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job: able to lift 11 kg to 20 kg;
• Must be able to tolerate a cold environment (refrigerated work area);
• Completion of a Food Handlers course, an asset (on the job certification provided).
