A leading healthcare organization is looking for a Nursing Unit Clerk to support patient care operations. The role involves clerical duties such as transcribing orders, coordinating appointments, and maintaining patient records. Ideal candidates will have strong communication and organizational skills, along with a background in medical terminology. Reporting to the Manager or designate and under general supervision, this role involves performing a variety of clerical duties related to the operation of a patient care area. Responsibilities include acting as a communication link for the Unit by transcribing and processing physicians' orders, communicating with other departments and hospitals, coordinating patient appointments, arranging tests and receiving results, receiving and directing visitors, answering phones, assembling and maintaining patient charts, and performing keyboarding and data entry tasks.
Grade 12, knowledge of medical terminology, graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk program, plus one year's recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
