Position Overview

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager or designate and under general supervision, this role involves performing a variety of clerical duties related to patient care operations, including:

1. Acting as a communication link for the unit by transcribing and processing physicians' orders
2. Communicating with other departments and hospitals
3. Coordinating patient appointments and arranging tests
4. Receiving and communicating test results
5. Receiving and directing visitors and answering telephones
6. Assembling and maintaining patient charts
7. Performing keyboarding and data entry tasks

Qualifications

Education, Training, and Experience: Grade 12, medical terminology, graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk program, plus one year's recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
