Southlake Health in Newmarket, ON is seeking a Nursing Extern (Student) for a fixed-term, part-time role. You will support direct patient care as part of the healthcare team, collaborating with Registered Nurses and other professionals.

The position targets nursing students in the 2nd–4th year or PN final year, with emphasis on communication, infection control, and patient safety. Hybrid/onsite involvement depends on unit needs.

Formación

• Nursing students between 2nd and 4th year in a CNO-approved BScN/BN or PN final year.
• Recent patient care experience preferred.
• Familiar with infection prevention and control practices.
• Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
• Ability to prioritize workload and stay organized.

Responsabilidades

• Assist patients with personal hygiene and activities of daily living.
• Assist staff with patient lifting, turning, transferring, and ambulating per hospital policy.
• Maintain skin integrity and provide comfort measures.
• Ensure a clean, safe environment and proper bedside setup.
• Document care in the electronic health record as required.
