Qualifications

RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC

The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre located in Montreal, Quebec. It is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) and is affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Technical Platform Manager - Centre for Innovative Medicine (CIM), and following established governmental guidelines and regulations, the incumbent is responsible for administering and adjusting treatments and medications to research patients, overseeing the day-to-day activities of the CIM Infusion nurses, following policies and procedures, and using a holistic approach to patient care.

The Centre for Innovative Medicine is located in the new Glen site hospital, a unique 5000 m2 center in Canada dedicated exclusively to clinical research.

General Duties
  • Onboard new personnel, involve in their training, and collaborate on research projects
  • Assign patients to Infusion Nurses and maintain a balanced nurse/patient ratio
  • Generate key performance indicators for CIM Infusion room activities
  • Support scheduling of patients based on room capacity, staff availability, and treatment complexity

Act as a resource to assist in the care of research patients requiring complex care, administer chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments, infuse blood products when necessary, evaluate health status, determine treatment continuation, work with interdisciplinary teams, provide resources to patients, ensure proper documentation, review protocol trainings, and perform other tasks as assigned by the manager.

Education / Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing required
  • Good standing member of the OIIQ
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in medical/surgical, ICU, or Emergency Room
  • Experience in Oncology and administration of cancer treatments preferred
  • Clinical research experience preferred
  • Experience in multicenter project management is an asset
  • Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Health Canada Division 5 certifications are assets
  • Bilingual in French and English
  • Strong communication skills
  • Able to work independently, self-directed, flexible, organized, with good work ethics
Additional Information

Status: Full Time

Pay Scale: $62,389.60 - $115,824.80, commensurate with qualifications and experience

Work Shift: 35 hours/week, Monday to Friday, with occasional evening or weekend hours

Work Site: Centre for Innovative Medicine, MUHC Glen Site
