Research Institute of the MUHC

The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre located in Montreal, Quebec. It serves as the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) and is affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Technical Platform Manager - Centre for Innovative Medicine (CIM), and following established governmental guidelines and regulations, the incumbent is responsible for administering and adjusting treatments and medications to research patients, overseeing the day-to-day activities of the CIM Infusion nurses, following policies and procedures, and adopting a holistic approach to patient care.

The Centre for Innovative Medicine is located in the new Glen site hospital, a unique 5000 m2 facility in Canada dedicated exclusively to clinical research.

General Duties
  1. Onboard new personnel, provide training, and collaborate on research projects;
  2. Assign patients to Infusion Nurses to ensure balanced nurse/patient ratios;
  3. Generate key performance indicators related to CIM Infusion room activities;
  4. Support scheduling of patients based on infusion room capacity, staff availability, and treatment complexity;
  5. Assist in the care of research patients requiring complex care as a resource person;
  6. Administer chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments to oncology and other disease research patients;
  7. Infuse blood products when necessary;
  8. Evaluate the health status of research patients;
  9. Determine if research patients can continue their treatments;
  10. Work closely with the interdisciplinary team to ensure proper care and oversight for research patients and their families in clinical trials;
  11. Provide appropriate resources to patients;
  12. Ensure proper documentation of research activities;
  13. Review and document protocol trainings;
  14. Perform any other tasks assigned by the manager.
