Job description

Title: Nurse Practitioner (NP) - Nuxálk Primary Care Centre

Contract: Contract 0.5 to 1.0 FTE – typically 840 to 1680 hours a year depending on FTE.

Salary: $171,533–$182,968 pro‑rated for partial FTE plus attachment incentive.

Region: Vancouver Coastal – Bella Coola, BC.

About the Centre

The Nuxálk First Nations–Led Primary Care Centre will be situated at the Nuxálk Health & Wellness Centre (NHWC) at 500 Highway 20, Bella Coola, BC. The Centre will provide culturally safe primary care attachment for 1,250 First Nations patients living in the Nuxálk and Ulkatcho First Nation communities. It will offer holistic primary care services, including traditional wellness and mental health services, and will provide mobile clinic services to Ulkatcho Nation at the Anahim Lake Nursing Station. The centre will operate Monday to Friday (excluding statutory holidays) during regular business hours with possible changes over time.

About the Role

The Nurse Practitioner will be the most responsible provider for a client panel as described in the NP clinical service contract template, collaborating within a team‑based environment that supports Western and traditional wellness approaches to client health and wellness. A minimum panel size is typically expected to reach 600 patients per 1.0 FTE by year 3, and the Nurse Practitioner will be expected to travel with the team on Fridays to different sites for appointments within the communities. NPs are not required to contribute to clinic overhead.

  • Provide whole‑person care in compliance with BC health and wellness regulations and standards.
About You
  • Passionate about supporting First Nations families on their health and wellness journeys.
  • Hold a Master’s Degree – Nurse Practitioner (Family).
  • Have an active practicing license in good standing with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Have training in Cultural Safety & Humility or are willing to take this training.
  • Ideally have experience working with First Nations people and communities and providing culturally safe care.
  • Hold a current valid driving licence and willingness to travel.
