Maamwesying North Shore Community Health Services Inc. seeks a Nurse Practitioner to deliver primary health care in a northern clinic setting.

You will work with an interdisciplinary team to provide client-centered, culturally safe care in Wawa/Chapleau, ON. Casual contract until March 31, 2027 (one to two days per week) with in-person and remote coverage; a Master’s in Nursing and NP certificate, RN(EC) registration, and 3–5 years’ experience are required, with Indigenous health care experience

  • 3–5 years of Nurse Practitioner experience in primary care.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

Position: Nurse Practitioner (NP-PHC)

Employment Type: Casual Contract until March 31, 2027 (one to two days per week, in-person and remote coverage) possible extension pending funding

Vacancy Status: New Position

Salary Range: $59.08-$72.65 per hour

Location: Northern Clinic (Wawa & Chapleau, ON

We provide accessible, quality, culturally safe and holistic health care that supports and enhances the wellness of individuals, families, and communities. We work with our 11 First Nation community partners and one Indigenous Friendship Centre in the provision of primary health care, traditional healing, mental wellness and addictions, home and community support services, and health promotion services.

The opportunity: Under the direction of the Integrated Care Manager, the Nurse Practitioner is responsible for delivering primary health care services for Maamwesying North Shore Community Health Services Inc., specifically for the Northern Clinic service area. Working within an interdisciplinary team, the Nurse Practitioner provides client-centered, comprehensive care to individuals and their families. This role is essential to ensuring accessible, holistic, and culturally appropriate care.

What you need to bring with you:

  • A Master’s in Nursing Degree and valid certificate as a Nurse Practitioner, preferably with a Primary Health Care Focus
  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing degree
  • Current registration and good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario as an RN(EC)
  • Three to five years’ of work-related work experience as a Nurse Practitioner
  • Additional training or credentialing is considered an asset (i.e. Certified Diabetes Educator and/or TEACH)
  • Experience working within Indigenous communities is an asset
  • Experience working within electronic medical records
  • Ability to multi-task, organize multiple projects and programs
  • Ability to work within an interdisciplinary team environment
  • Demonstrated competence in conflict resolution
  • Knowledge of Anishinabek Health and Traditional health practices
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Possess a valid driver’s licence, safe driving record as demonstrated in a driver’s abstract and access to a reliable vehicle
