Job summary

Northern Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join the Emergency Department and Primary Care team at Fort Nelson General Hospital. The role involves providing emergency care to patients of all ages in a fast-paced, team-based environment, with the opportunity to deliver longitudinal primary care and manage a patient panel.

ACLS, PALS, ATLS, and CASTED certifications are required. Flexible scheduling, telemedicine support, mentorship, and strong interprofessional collaboration are available

Qualifications

  • Requires Nurse Practitioner designation and BC license.
  • ACLS, PALS, ATLS and CASTED certifications required.
  • Experience in emergency and longitudinal primary care is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate within interdisciplinary ED team to provide safe, high-quality care.
  • Assess and manage patients across CTAS 1–5.
  • Utilize PowerChart or paper-based documentation systems.
  • Engage with virtual specialist services to support timely, high-quality care.
  • Deliver longitudinal primary care to a diverse patient population.
  • Use EMR for documentation and care coordination.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives.

Job description

Northern Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join the Emergency Department and Primary Care team at Fort Nelson General Hospital. This dynamic role involves providing emergency care to patients of all ages in a fast-paced, team-based care environment. In addition, this position offers flexibility and the chance to provide longitudinal primary care to patients of all ages. The NP will attach a patient panel and contribute to a collaborative, culturally safe care environment supported by physicians, other nurse practitioners, primary care assistants, and an interprofessional team.

Virtual specialist consultation services and telemedicine technologies are available to support clinical decision-making and enhance access to expertise. The position offers adaptable scheduling options to support service delivery and work-life balance. Advanced certifications required include ACLS, PALS, ATLS, and CASTED.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary emergency department team to provide safe, patient-centered, high-quality care.

Salary Range
  • New Graduate NP - $149,382
  • 1 Year Experience - $156,851
  • 2 Years Experience - $164,320
